“Cucumber Dan” tells the story of a 17-year-old cucumber who discovers Dill Shady and becomes convinced he was meant for something bigger than the produce aisle.

Dan starts writing rhymes. He dyes his stem blonde. He throws on a fake gold chain. He even builds a recording studio in the vegetable drawer.
His parents don’t understand him. His girlfriend misses the old Dan. And everyone keeps telling him the same thing:

“Dan… you’re a cucumber.”

But Dan keeps writing letters to his hero, Dill Shady.

And eventually…

Dill writes back.

What Dill tells him isn’t what Dan—or the listener—expects.

At its heart, it’s a song about finding your own voice instead of spending your life trying to become somebody else.
